9to5Mac (click link to read) is reporting that the staff training for iCloud and iOS 5 may just be around the corner following shots from an internal RetailMe application used by staff. As 9to5 point out, this time may be different to previous evidence but staff training usually precedes a couple of weeks or so before a release.
We will post if we see or hear anything else.
UPDATE: Mayor Gilbert Wong has been quoted as saying that the Apple plans for their new Campus will be suppoted. “There is no chance we are saying no” to the Mothership, Wong said.
Steve Jobs presented plans to the Cupertino Council for a new Apple Campus. The campus will centre on a huge circular building with some ancilliary parking , R&D and Leisure buildings. The site will also focus on increasing the green space with an increase in trees and decrease in developed floor space.
Take a look at the presentation below. Looks pretty special and they have obviously taken time to consider the environmental issues facing such a large development including energy usage where they plan on using the national grid as a backup to an on site natural gas energy system.
The video of todays Apple Keynote is now available for one and all (with internet access 😉 ) from the Apple website.
We have a sneaky feeling there will be some big surprises on Monday when Apple gives details of the future of iOS, OSX and their “cloud based services”.
It is certainly not like Apple to announce beforehand what the keynote speech will cover albeit it is usually already widely known through the hints and graphics used to announce when the keynotes will take place along with the press invites.
The iCloud concept has been muted for some time now and with Amazon and Google already providing such streaming services and the concept of Spotify heavily subscribed to in some parts, it has given Apple an opportunity to do something they do well. Sit back, observe and take stock.
In this process, you can usually guarantee that there will be some Wow to the keynote, an angle that only Apple could have delivered or thought of and a way that such services will work that only Apple efficiency can deliver. And given the investment Apple has made in to their data centre and announcements that there will be more data centres, then the reality dawns that Apple has been looking at this for a long time, and they have been able to consider what they will deliver for a long time.
The fact that the keynote will also cover iOS and OSX future releases, and that MobileMe is due an upgrade (even perhaps iTunes is due one), then it all points to the sort of synronicity and cross device features that Apple have become so good at.
Stay with us on Monday for details.
Patently Apple are reporting a patent highlighting Apples plans for a Cloud media streaming service. But the article suggests there is something unique about the way the service is to be delivered.
To avoid streaming problems, the media source is partially locally stored. See Patently Apple for their full article.
Given the reports suggesting Apple has done a deal for media streaming with EMI and on brink of other similar deals, this all points to hopefully something imminent, perhaps as early as June at the next Apple Developers Conference.
Okay I have watched a lot of films and they are everywhere…..Apple products are definately the tech of preference when someone wants to use a computer or electronic device (such as iPhone) and so on.
But my favourite so far has to be in a scene of Inside Man (directed by Spike Lee). Madeline White’s Apple Cinema Display on her desk (MW is played by Jodie Foster) has to be the scene where I thought, I gotta get me one of them! Problem is it would collapse my desk probably.
Since then there have been numerous Apple products but the Cinema dispay stands out in this scene…just how big do you need a display on your desk!!!???
Let me know your favourite Apple product placements and indeed any others that perhaps made you think, “I need one” or “Thats ridculous”!
Okay, its the 18th May 2011, 7.57am, and the Apple Store is down, is there something coming up that nobody has been expecting or could it just be maintenance?
Lets wait and see….hopefully new stuff!
UPDATE…..Store is back up and after a quick scan I can’t see anything major that has been introduced. Let me know is you see anything that has changed.
The only thing I can see, have the delivery options changed to a more varied array of options??? Hmmmm.
